The Town Hall of Modena, which closes the porch with its eastern and northern side of the Piazza Grande, is still the seat of the Municipality of Modena. This is not actually a single building, but the result of the restructuring of the seventeenth and eighteenth centuries of many buildings which come to life since 1046, all with the same function as administrative buildings and representation.
The old Civic Tower (Torre Mozza today) collapsed in 1671 following an earthquake.
